Apple’s much rumoured iPad Mini will be a 7in Retina Display tablet out this October. This comes from a source of iMore who also claims the price will be a meager US$200-250.

With Apple swimming in its own sea of cash, and a need for a similar control of the iPad market that it managed with the MP3 market, it may even sell the iPad Mini for a meager profit.

The source indicated that the 7in iPad would be identical to the 9.7in current iPad, meaning a 2048×1536 resolution in a 7in screen – delivering an iPad beating 365ppi. We’re taking this with a handful of salt, but the 8GB (only) 7in iPad Mini in October would be a very welcome pre-Christmas present.

Spotify released its long-awaited iPad app on Wednesday and it is a thing of beauty.

Spotify is late to the tablet game — its competitors, which include MOG, Rhapsody and Rdio — have all had iPad or Android tablet apps in the market for months. So what took so long?
“We wanted to make sure we got the app just right,” Spotify told us while showing off the app.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is scheduled to appear on TV on Tuesday to introduce a feature that “could save lives.”

The social networking giant has introduced tools of late that could be described along the same lines. In December, Facebook launched a program called “Lifeline” that let friends alert the company when their friends express suicidal thoughts. In that case, Facebook sends an email to the comment’s author directing them to a telephone hotline or a link they can click to start a confidential chat.

The simplistic cardboard camera has built-in memory that can store up to 40 digital photos. It’s powered by two AA-sized batteries and has a pull-out USB connector so you can transfer the photos to your computer. Once you’ve reached 40 photos, you can wipe out the internal memory and start over again.

Ikea’s disposable camera probably won’t be able to handle the wear and tear of ordinary cameras, but it’s certainly a nifty gadget for a branded merchandise.

Google has come out with another one of its doodles today, paying homage to one Gideon Sundback — the engineer who developed the zipper. Sundback was born on this day 132 years ago, an occasion that Google has appropriately commemorated with a giant zipper running length-wise down its homepage. Users can “unzip” the page by dragging their cursors from top to bottom, which will bring up a bevy of search items related to today’s honoree.
